UMT360 v6.2 – Product Update 2

We’re pleased to announce the availability of UMT360 v6.2 – Product Update 2 (PU2). Product Updates include all previously released public updates and private hotfixes. We strongly recommend that any patch and release is validated in a non-production environment first before being applied to production environments.

Here is a list of changes that will be introduced with this update:

  • Major new features:
    • Portfolio Hub
      • Portfolio Hub represents a major revamping of the UMT360 Portfolio Center capabilities, introducing a modern experience for managing and accessing UMT360 Entities
      • Summarize, access and create UMT360 Entities all in one place
      • Group your Entity Types by Portfolios, for easier access
      • Define multiple views to summarize information about your UMT360 Entities and share them with the right Security Groups within your organization
      • Easy to use conditional formatting helps you bring focus to important information
      • Use search and/or filters to quickly find the entities you are looking for
      • Re-size and order columns in views using drag-and-drop
  • Resource Manager
    • Financial values can now be automatically updated when synchronizing data with UMT360 Resource Plans for UMT360 Entities
    • Fixed issue with Category and Allocation Center Mappings default values not being displayed on upgrade
    • Resources are now correctly filtered in the Add Resources dialog  when using the Hide Inactive Resources option
  • Portfolio Manager
    • Users can now select up to three grouping levels in the Roadmap
  • Roadmap Manager
    • Improved user experience when creating relationships by replacing the Related Entity drop-down selection with a Related Entity search control
    • Fixed error when using a Project Custom Field named ‘ProjectID’ in the definition of a Roadmap
    • Fixed issues with milestone field values being updated automatically when their Default Value was updated in the field definition
  • Other
    • Added the ability to leverage contextual UMT360 Entity information in workflows
    • Increased the character limit for UMT360 Entity Fields of type Multiline Text to 1000 characters
    • Improved the performance of the Synchronize Information to the Reporting Database mechanism
    • Improved performance and reduced the occurrence of throttling  when loading the UMT360 Forms when integrating with Microsoft Project
    • Fixed display issue from Define Exchange Rates dialog
    • Added the ability to create Option Sets of type Number in UMT360 for SharePoint 2019
    • Fixed issue with Cost fields displaying values in UMT360 Entity Details web part using the Entity Currency instead of the Reference Currency

UMT360 v6.1 – Product Update 1

We’re pleased to announce the availability of UMT360 v6.1 – Product Update 1 (PU1). Product Updates include all previously released public updates and private hotfixes. We strongly recommend that any patch and release is validated in a non-production environment first before being applied to production environments.

Here is a list of changes that will be introduced with this update:

  • Resource Management
    • Added the ability to synchronize the UMT360 Resource Pool with Azure Active Directory Groups
    • Added the ability to mark Inactive resources using a new Resource Status field
    • Team Member individual assignments are now available in UMT360 My Resources and UMT360 My Resource Plans web parts
    • Added the ability to filter entities that are displayed in UMT360 My Resources and UMT360 My Resource Plans web parts using entity-level fields
    • Added the ability to manage the capacity of resources at a more granular level by specifying their Earliest Available and Latest Available dates
    • Custom Granularities are no longer available in the UMT360 Resources, UMT360 My Resource Plans and UMT360 My Resources web parts
    • Team assignment values can now be automatically copied between resource dimensions using the Copy to Resource Dimension stage transition action
    • Fixed issues with resource/assignment field values being updated automatically when their Default Value was changed in the field definition
    • Fixed display issue for Availability when extending resource plan timelines using the Redistribute adjustment type
    • Fixed FTE calculation for resources with Max Units different than 100% or with calendar exceptions, such as non-working days
    • Improved the way Availability is displayed in snapshots
  • Portfolio Manager
    • User selected Granularity Settings are now persisted in Portfolio Manager
    • Improvements to the scroll capability from the Legend pane
  • Roadmap Manager
    • Improved the way entity names are displayed in Board roadmaps
    • Fixed issue when dragging entities from one column to another in Board Roadmaps when using Internet Explorer 11
    • Synchronized milestones are now removed from UMT360 when they are deleted from the Project Plan
    • The Display in Roadmaps option is no longer reset when synchronizing milestones from Microsoft Project
  • Core Financial Capabilities
    • Improved user experience when selecting financial nodes in the Display Filter dialog
    • Fixed issue with values being incorrectly displayed in financial grids when data redistribution occurs and the system is unable to read Calendar Exceptions
    • Fixed issue with Allocation Center Groups not being saved when using Internet Explorer 11
  • Other
    • Reporting tables using the .dbo schema from the UMT360 database have been deprecated and replaced with .odata reporting tables
    • Actuals Reporting Periods are no longer created outside the boundaries of the Financial Timeline when importing financial values using Data Exchange
    • Fixed issue with saving project updates when using the UMT360 Fields web part with Lookup Table Custom Fields
    • Users that are not Site Collection Administrators can now set the owner of UMT360 Security Groups
    • Fixed sorting by Last Connection column in the UMT360 Manage CALs administration page
    • Added a new OData view: CostCenters
    • Fixed issue with NodeNamePathCategoryGUIDPathParentCategoryName columns not updating correctly in FinancialValues and FinancialValuesLeaves OData views
    • Fixed issue with duplicate entries being stored in the SnapshotValues OData view, when the Sync Reporting Entity Data With Main queue job fails and is manually retried
  • Programmability (CSOM interfaces)
    • Added CRUD operations for UMT360 Entities
    • Added CRUD operations for Milestone Field Values
    • Added the ability to copy Financial Values via CSOM
    • Added the ability to copy Milestones Dates via CSOM
    • Added the ability to copy Resource Values via CSOM

Release announcement: UMT360 v6.0

We’re excited to announce the availability of UMT360 v6.0, a major release supporting SharePoint 2016, 2019 and Project Online. This release includes a set of new features, as well as various enhancements across all product areas. All previously released public updates and private hotfixes are also part of v6.0. We strongly recommend that any release is validated in a non-production environment first before being applied to production environments.

Here is a list of changes that will be introduced with this release:

  • Major new features:
    • UMT360 Entities and Fields
      • Stand-alone Entity Types (based on SharePoint Lists) are being replaced by UMT360 Entities. New features are available for UMT360 Entities, including configurable Fields with improved UI controls
    • UMT360 Teams
      • Flexible Team definition, supporting partially allocated resources to multiple teams
      • Automatically derive team capacity based on the capacity of each team member
      • Manage work assignments in resource plans using Teams, individual resources or a hybrid between the two
      • Mix and match team assignment and individual Resource assignments for a complete picture of the work being done in your organization
  • Roadmap Manager
    • Added the ability to Group By and Filter By multi-select fields in both Timeline and Boards roadmap types
    • Added the ability to Sort By in Boards roadmaps
    • Made the Summary Field setting optional when defining Board roadmaps
    • Added the ability to resize Board roadmap columnsusing drag-and-drop
    • Added the ability to quickly Show Related Entities in Timeline roadmaps
    • Added the ability to manually select colors when grouping by Choice type fields
    • Enhanced the Search mechanism used in the Entity List pane
    • Groups are now alphabetically ordered in Timeline roadmaps
    • Fixed issue with sorting being reset after changing the position of a group in Timeline roadmaps
  • Portfolio Manager
    • Enhanced the Search mechanism used in the Backlog pane
    • Fixed issue with entities not being displayed in the UI after adding an entity from the Backlog
    • Filtered out Financial Nodes that are not used by Entity Types included in a Plan
    • Improved usability of the Roadmap vertical scroll bar
    • Added CurrentEntityStatus column in ScenarioResourceValuesYearlyTotals OData view
    • The AvailableHours column from the ScenarioResourceAvailabilityYearlyTotals OData view will no longer include Backlog entities
  • Resource Management
    • Fields from the Display Filter dialog are now alphabetically ordered in both UMT360 My Resource Plans and UMT360 My Resources web parts
    • Users are no longer required to perform a Save operation when adding Resources to a resource plan
    • Improved performance when querying AssignmentValues OData view
  • Other
    • Added the ability to define a date range for which time-phased resource information is maintained for reporting purposes
    • Added the ability to change the UMT360 Security Group owner in the Manage Groups administration page
    • Improved the node selection in the Display Filter dialog from all financial web parts
    • Fixed issue with Reporting Entity Changed queue job timing out when “Enforce the use of Allocation Centers” setting was in use
    • Fixed authentication issue when using an extra blank space at the end of the URL
  • Programmability (CSOM interfaces)
    • Added CRUD operations for UMT360 Teams Assignments and Team Assignment Values
    • Added UMT360 Entity Added, UMT360 Entity Updated and UMT360 Entity Deleted Remote Event Handlers
    • Added support to register all UMT360 Event Handlers as Webhooks
    • Fixed minor issues with reading UMT360 Resources via CSOM
    • Fixed issues with existing Financial Custom Fields values not being updated via CSOM

UMT360 v5.16 – Product Update 16

We’re pleased to announce the availability of UMT360 v5.16 – Product Update 16 (PU16). Product Updates include all previously released public updates and private hotfixes. We strongly recommend that any patch and release is validated in a non-production environment first before being applied to production environments.

Here is a list of changes that will be introduced with this update:

  • Roadmap Manager
    • Portfolio Boards – this release introduces a new type of roadmap (Boards), included with the UMT360 Roadmap Manager
      • Users can build their own portfolio-level Boards along with their Timeline roadmaps, using any type of descriptive data to categorize Buckets (Board columns)
      • Users can format their Boards the way they want using configurable swimlanes, custom colors, and much more
      • Private or shared Boards can be created from scratch without requiring pre-defined templates set up by administrators
      • Users have the ability to rearrange cards using drag-and-drop across the Board; changes are reflected back in the entity records
    • Portfolio Timeline roadmap enhancements:
      • Added the ability to define Key Events such as goals, milestones, decisions or deliverables, which can be used to visually align entities
      • Added the ability to create two levels of grouping
      • Added the ability to manually set colors (pre-defined or custom) for groups and Key Events
      • Added the ability to manually re-order groups using drag-and-drop
      • Added the ability to create Timeline roadmaps that are automatically prepopulated, or blank roadmaps in which users manually include entities
      • Added the ability to manually exclude individual entities from Timeline roadmaps
      • Improved the experience of printing Timeline Roadmaps
  • Portfolio Manager
    • Added the ability to create Plans including only Resource information
    • Enhanced the collapse/expand groups experience by increasing the actionable area
    • Fixed issue with Plans not being created when they were configured with Enterprise Financial Types with special characters in their name
    • User-defined Resource Settings are now persisted
    • Fixed issue with Resource Assignments and their values not being displayed in Scenarios after performing a Refresh Data for an entity
  • Milestone Management
    • External Milestones from Project Plans that are not directly linked to entities are no longer synchronized in the UMT360 Milestones web part and UMT360 Relationship web part
    • Fixed issue with Milestones not being saved after changing the date in specific scenarios
  • Resource Management
    • Filters from the Display Filter section of the UMT360 My Resources web part are no longer case sensitive
    • Added the ability to set the number of digits for Resource Rates using a new Global Option
    • Added the ability to set the grid height in pixels for the UMT360 Resources, My Resources and My Resource Plans web parts
  • Other
    • Added Creation Date column in all the OData Views which store Snapshot values
    • Fixed display issue with the UMT360 Workflow Visualization web part when using Site Workflows
  • Programmability (CSOM interfaces)
    • Fixed issue with reading Snapshots
    • Improved methods for reading Relationships information

Using Microsoft Teams collaboration capabilities with UMT360

Many organizations are in the process of moving from Skype to Microsoft Teams. In addition to providing the ability to message and call team members, Microsoft Teams also provides great team collaboration capabilities. Let’s take a look at how to leverage those capabilities in conjunction with UMT360.
