It’s back-to-school time. And that means a fresh start for kids just looking for an opportunity to learn and grow. This year, the UMT360 team is hoping to make a difference for a few foster kids here in Washington state. Because each fall, thousands of them head back to school, and too many lack the essentials to succeed in the classroom.
But there’s an organization trying to change that. It’s called Treehouse, and their mission is to level the playing field and make life just a little bit better for youth in foster care. Last month, UMT360 teamed up with Treehouse by holding a back-to-school supplies drive here in our Bellevue, WA office. UMT360 employees collected and donated back-to-school supplies for Treehouse to distribute to foster kids here in our area. It was a fun program that brought the team together on behalf of folks right here in our community.
Some of us don’t have kids yet, some have kids in school while others have watched their kids graduate and go on to college and beyond. But there’s one thing that we all have in common. And that’s the belief that a good start can make all the difference – especially to a kid who already has enough to worry about.
That’s why we’re delighted to support the work that Treehouse does. They’re helping kids all over our state overcome challenges to give them a chance to make the most of their opportunities. And that’s all any of us can ask, just a chance to do our best. Have a community activity that your team would like to share? Let us know in the comments.
