UMT360 v5.15 – Product Update 15

We’re pleased to announce the availability of UMT360 v5.15 – Product Update 15 (PU15). Product Updates include all previously released public updates and private hotfixes. We strongly recommend that any patch and release is validated in a non-production environment first before being applied to production environments.

Here is a list of changes that will be introduced with this update:

  • Roadmap Manager – this release includes a major revamping of the UMT360 Roadmap Manager capabilities, introducing a brand new way of managing portfolio-level Timeline roadmaps
    • Users can take control of building their own roadmaps, while continuing to benefit from all existing capabilities in UMT360 that they have come to know and love
    • Improved, modern UI/UX enables users to quickly navigate and format their roadmaps the way they want
    • Private or shared Roadmaps can be created from scratch without requiring pre-defined templates set up by administrators
  • Portfolio Manager
    • Added the ability to clear all user-defined contextual filters at once
    • Added the ability to increase the values domain in Bar Chart views when increasing the Cut-Off/Target values
    • User-defined settings are now persisted for each Scenario defined
    • Fixed issue with financial values when entities are managed using different currencies
    • The ROI and Resource Utilization metrics no longer take into account values from entities that fall outside the Plan Range
    • Fixed issue with Payback when entities included in the Plan have no cost and benefit values
    • Fixed persistence issue with user-defined entity order in the Roadmap
    • Fixed issue with backlog entities not being added to the Roadmap when they have no resource, cost or benefit values that fall within the Plan Range
  • Milestone Management
    • Added the ability to automatically enable/disable milestone synchronization with the schedule when transitioning through workflow stages
    • Included a new option called Maintain Synchronized Milestones. When enabled, previously synchronized milestones, that are either Active or Completed, will not be removed from the UMT360 Milestone Plan when they are deleted from the schedule
    • Added the ability to use custom Milestone date fields in the Copy Milestone Dates workflow stage transition action
    • Fixed issue with milestones not being displayed in OData views when they were created using a Milestone Template
    • Fixed issue with blank Milestone custom fields not being displayed when reviewing snapshots
  • Core Financial Capabilities
    • Snapshots are no longer affected by changes made to the financial structure of existing Enterprise Financial Types
  • Other
    • Added the Review Snapshots permission which allows users to review existing snapshots without giving them the ability to create snapshots
    • Resolved time-out issue when synchronizing UMT360 Security Groups on instances containing a very large number of SharePoint Groups
    • Increased timeline limits for Financial and Resource Plans to December 31st 2059
    • Improved performance on OData views containing financial values
  • Programmability (CSOM interfaces)
    • Added ResourceRate property to the Resource class
    • Added GetFinancialStructure method to the FinancialEntity class
    • Added Owners property to the Resource class

Using Flow to create automated approval workflows in Project

Project for the web is Microsoft’s most recent offering for cloud-based work and project management. It’s built on top of Common Data Service (CDS), which opens a lot of possibilities when working with Microsoft’s new chapter of project management software. One of the scenarios made possible by CDS and the Power platform is building robust workflows, using modern tools and no code.

Gartner Magic Quadrant recognizes UMT360 as a visionary

Gartner’s 2019 Magic Quadrant for Integrated IT Portfolio Analysis Applications (IIPA) was just released, and once again, UMT360 has been recognized as a visionary provider. According to Gartner, “integrating portfolios using IIPA software enables IT managers to see the cost, effort, technical complexity, feasibility and interrelated effects of a proposed IT change or digital initiative before it is approved.”
