The end of the year is a time to connect with loved ones, celebrate the holidays, and make resolutions for the New Year. For PMO leaders, it’s also the perfect time to take a step back and assess the effectiveness of the processes you use to manage project and program investments, while also assessing their impact on your business.

Cumulative Update 3 (CU3) for UMT360 for SharePoint 2013 SP1

Written by admin on December 20th, 2015 at 9:06 pm

We are pleased to announce the release of the UMT360 for SharePoint 2013 SP1 (2014 release) – Cumulative Update 3 / CU3. Cumulative Updates include all previously released public updates and private hotfixes. We strongly recommend that any patch and release is validated in a non-production environment first before being applied to production environments.

Here’s the list of fixes and improvements addressed:

  • Performance and Reliability
    • Addressed issues with the UMT360 Fields for SharePoint web part throwing errors when using a date field (column)
    • Improved handling of a scenario where using the UMT360 Fields web part on multiple EPTs with intrinsic fields having custom labels defined would lead to errors with Change Request creation
    • The Needs Upgrade message is no longer displayed unnecessarily even after a site has been fully upgraded after the installation of Cumulative Updates
    • Improved performance for the creation of Change Request and Financial Reporting Periods approval tasks
    • Addressed timeout when updating reporting database for a new Relationship when a large number of Relationships exist already
    • Fixed behavior where a CustomFieldInvalidUID error will be displayed when saving Budget for the first time and intrinsic Start and Finish fields are used
    • Addressed issues with validations being triggered even when data is not saved
  • Other
    • UMT360 Surveys can now be used for list items
    • Addressed issues with Data Import skipping rows or over-encoding when values or Project Names include special characters such as ampersand (&), long hyphen, etc. or multi-line values
    • Data Import now properly handles scenarios where fiscal calendars are used and the Force Update to a Specific Period option is selected
    • Removed list of Assemblies Loaded from the About page when the site is configured to Debug mode

On A Journey To PMO Maturity

Written by Ben Chamberlain on December 7th, 2015 at 11:53 am

This fall, the UMT360 team participated in several industry events featuring PMO leaders presenting thought-provoking keynotes and informative breakout sessions. Attending these events always gives us a chance to learn, along with an opportunity to speak with PMO leaders from all walks of life. It also is a great reminder that no two organizations have exactly the same needs or face precisely the same challenges.

Is Your PMO Ready To Lead?

UMT360’s own Ben Chamberlain presents the keynote at this year’s Project Management Days event in Helsinki.

I was invited to be the keynote speaker at this year’s Project Management Days in Helsinki. It was an honor to kick off this event in front of hundreds of project management professionals from around the world. But I have to admit to wondering how my presentation would resonate with the an audience comprised largely of folks who don’t share my native tongue. (Of course, some who know me would argue that an Englishman living in the U.S. must already have plenty of experience communicating with people who don’t speak his language.)

An Oasis For PMOs In The Desert

Written by Ben Chamberlain on October 30th, 2015 at 9:39 am

The UMT360 team, along with PMO leaders from around the world, will be in Phoenix from November 8-11, 2015 for the PMO Symposium.

The PMO Symposium is one of our favorite events of the year. It’s where hundreds of business leaders gather for a behind-the-scenes look into the proven strategies and practices that drive success for some of the world’s leading PMOs. Each year it seems to get better and better, with just about everyone responsible for directing their organization’s portfolio of projects, programs and initiatives in attendance!
